PART 1 – The Marriage That Looked Like a Dream
Carla was five months pregnant and believed she had married into a fairytale. Miguel Montemayor came from one of the most powerful political families in the country. During their courtship, he treated her like royalty. He sent flowers every week, wrote letters, and promised a future filled with safety and luxury.
Carla came from a humble background. Her parents were simple people who worked hard to survive. When Miguel proposed, she thought destiny had finally smiled at her.
But after marriage, everything changed.
His kindness slowly vanished. His family moved into their lives like shadows. His mother criticized her clothes. His father ignored her presence. Miguel began raising his voice, controlling where she went and who she spoke to.
Carla stayed silent for one reason: her unborn child.
That evening, the Montemayor family hosted a grand dinner inside their estate. Long golden tables. Crystal glasses. Servants moving like ghosts.
Carla suddenly felt dizzy from nausea. Her hand slipped. A wine glass shattered on the marble floor.
The room went silent.
Miguel stood up abruptly.
“Are you stupid?” he shouted.
Carla froze.
And then… he slapped her.
