🦐🦀 Seafood Lasagna with Shrimp & Crab



Ingredients


For the filling:


1 lb large shrimp, peeled, deveined, and roughly chopped


8 oz lump crab meat (fresh or canned, drained)


2 tbsp butter


3 cloves garlic, minced


1 small onion, finely diced


2 cups fresh spinach (optional, for a veggie layer)


Salt & black pepper, to taste


½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)


For the sauce:


4 tbsp butter


¼ cup all-purpose flour


4 cups whole milk (warm)


½ cup heavy cream


1 tsp Old Bay seasoning (or seafood seasoning)


½ tsp nutmeg (optional, for warmth)


1 cup grated Parmesan cheese


For assembly:


9–12 lasagna noodles (boiled al dente, or use oven-ready)


2 cups ricotta cheese (or cottage cheese)


1 large egg


3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese


½ cup Parmesan cheese


Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)


Instructions


1. Prepare seafood filling


In a large skillet, melt 2 tbsp butter.


Add garlic and onion, sauté until softened.


Stir in shrimp and cook 2–3 minutes until just pink (don’t overcook).


Add crab meat, season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Remove from heat and set aside.


2. Make the white sauce


In a saucepan, melt 4 tbsp butter. Stir in flour and cook 1–2 minutes to make a roux.


Slowly whisk in warm milk until smooth and thickened.


Stir in cream, Old Bay, nutmeg, and Parmesan. Simmer 3–5 minutes until velvety.


3. Ricotta mixture


In a bowl, mix ricotta with egg and a pinch of salt. Set aside.


4. Assemble lasagna


Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).


Spread a thin layer of sauce on the bottom of a greased 9x13 baking dish.


Layer noodles → ricotta mixture → seafood filling → spinach (if using) → sauce → mozzarella.


Repeat layers until ingredients are used up. Finish with noodles, sauce, mozzarella, and Parmesan on top.


5. Bake


Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes.


Remove foil and bake another 15–20 minutes until golden and bubbly.


Rest 10 minutes before slicing.


6. Garnish & serve


Sprinkle fresh parsley and serve with garlic bread or a crisp salad.
